Cecilia Sepp: Vice President, Association Laboratory Cecilia Sepp is Association Laboratory’s lead representative in the Greater Washington, DC, area. Ms. Sepp’s core responsibilities are qualitative research and executive-level interaction with senior volunteer and staff leadership. Ms. Sepp is a former association executive with more than 20 years experience in the management and growth of not-for-profit organizations. Her experience is wide-ranging and includes communications, qualitative research, component relations and volunteer management. Based in Silver Spring, Maryland, she has served as staff at professional societies, trade associations, and a non-profit arts organization. Recognized Expertise Ms. Sepp is an expert in association management, garnering awards from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the American Independent Writers (AIW). In 2007, Sepp joined the faculty of ASAE’s CenterU, where she leads courses on marketing, component relations, leadership and management. In 2010, Cecilia received the AIW Philip M. Stern Award, the organization's highest honor, which distinguishes a member’s exceptional achievement, leadership, and service on behalf of the freelance writing community. Cecilia received a B.A. in political science, with an adjunct in management, from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. She was nominated for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship, and she graduated with department honors. Volunteer Leadership Ms. Sepp has chaired both the ASAE Communication Section Council and the Gold Circle Awards program, which acknowledges outstanding communications within the association community. Her ASAE activities include presentations at ASAE conferences and contributions to ASAE publications. She was President of American Independent Writers (AIW) from 2007-2009, and served on the board as Immediate Past President from 2009-2010.
