Client Description

The National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Association has been representing hardwood flooring manufacturers for nearly a century. The association oversees the development of standards for hardwood oak flooring as well as the creation of educational programs designed to help both manufacturers and distributors understand and use these standards.

Project Description

Association Laboratory developed and implemented a two-day strategic planning retreat for the association. This process included a pre-retreat survey of association leadership designed to identify critical issues related to the industry, key markets for the association and preliminary strategy recommendations. The on-site process was designed to facilitate the prioritization of these issues and develop a consensus on strategy for the association.

"Following a call to Association Laboratory, Dean West, president of the consulting firm, contacted me and a general discussion of our needs took place. Within a short period of time, Dean West provided a draft plan to accomplish our goals.

From there, the execution of this plan progressed smoothly and rather quickly. He surveyed the membership regarding the industry, their particular needs, and we scheduled a retreat to implement the proposed strategy for the meeting.

The 2 ½-day retreat was packed with discussions and clearly brought together the results that were needed to develop a unified strategy for the association.
