Dean West is a global association thought leader and futurist who has spent two decades researching the future of the association business model, the environment facing association members and the implications on association strategy and leadership. His career in the association sector spans a spectrum of experiences ranging from state lobbyist to chief staff officer.
An engaging, provocative and conversational speaker, he understands the unique needs of association leaders working in a complex, dynamic environment. From volunteer leadership to meetings and membership engagement, Mr. West uses the Association Laboratory’s peer-based research to outline unique insights, inform and inspire association leaders.
For more than 30 years he has been guiding state, national and global associations in the research and development of business strategy. A provocative and conversational speaker, Mr. West creates a compelling, informal learning environment.
Meena Dyak, Vice President of Media and Integrated Communications for the American Public Power Association
Meena Dyak is a nationally recognized association leader with a long and successful track record leading holistic content and digital marketing efforts. At AAPA, she is responsible for direct strategic communications, integrated marketing, media, grassroots advocacy and publishing efforts. Charged with raising brand profile among media, policymakers, peer organizations, members, and other stakeholders.
She is the founder of Associations Catalyzing Entrepreneurship a cross-functional group of executives collaborating to develop a creative, nimble, bottom-line focused approach to association futures.
Sherry Budziak, .orgSource Founder, CEO, and Managing Director, Digital Strategy
Throughout her 20 years of leadership and executive consulting experience, Sherry has advised more than 200 organizations, helping them achieve their strategic objectives by identifying opportunities for innovation and product development, improving operational efficiency and effectiveness, and aligning IT resources. She brings unique insights to clients, based on a career that includes serving as the associate executive director of IT and web services for a major medical association as well as COO of its for-profit subsidiary company.
Sherry is also the co-founder of .orgCommunity, an organization that provides new connections, inspiration and solutions to association leaders and industry suppliers through education programs, networking events and a robust online community.
Sherry is an active participant in the association community, frequently writing and speaking in addition to having served in a variety of key volunteer roles. She is the 2010 recipient of the Association Forum’s John C. Thiel Distinguished Service Award. In 2018, she received WSAE’s Visionary Award, in recognition of her innovative association leadership.
Nikki Haton Shanks, CAE, MBA and Strategist with Association Laboratory
Nikki has been recognized as a rising star in association management having received the Association Forum’s 40 Under 40 Award. She was also selected for the AAMSE Leadership Academy. She’s been active in membership and volunteer engagement for the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Healthcare Risk Management and the American Academy of Periodontology. Nikki volunteers with the Florida Society for Association Executives on their Governance Committee and Young Professionals Task Force. She was also recently appointed to ASAE’s Healthcare Community Committee.
Ms. Shanks has authored white papers on content strategy and education strategy for Association Laboratory. She leads client engagements and also oversees development and managemant of the Association Laboratory Association Content Network, a collaborative relationship with state and other societies of association executives to distribute content on strategic association topics to association leaders.
Ms. Haton received her MBA from Benedictine University and her BA in International Studies (Spanish & Latin American Studies) from Loyola University of Chicago. She obtained her CAE in 2016.
Amy T. Williams, MSIMC, FCXC and Senior Consultant, Marketing and Communications with .orgSource
Amy Williams helps associations advance their missions and grow their revenues with a balanced blend of thoughtful strategy and marketing expertise. With more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications, 10 of which in association leadership roles, Amy approaches the unique challenges associations face with creativity and from a place of servant leadership.
Amy received her Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Communications with a minor in advertising and her Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications with a focus on branding. Both degrees earned from Roosevelt University.
